Insurance Claims
Health Insurance Coverage It is important to take into account what medical treatments your
policy does and does not cover. Do not take for granted that your policy provides coverage for all types of medical
treatments. If the situation permits, call your insurance company before receiving treatment to ascertain whether
or not you have the proper coverage.
Insurance claims may offer either a deductible or co-payment clause A
deductible is an agreed upon amount of money that the insured must pay towards treatment. For instance, if
your deductible is $300 then you will have to pay the first $300 of the total treatment cost.
- Many travel insurance policies do not have a deductible. In such a case, you
are reimbursed the total amount of any expenses that are covered by your policy.
A co-payment clause indicates that the policy holder must pay an agreed percentage of the
medical fees. In such cases, if the policy holder pays the fees initially, then he/she will be reimbursed the
partial amount after making the claim.
